Economic Vitality & Fiscal Health Workshop
The Economic Vitality & Fiscal Health Workshop examines how communities can save money, reduce their liabilities for the future, and use scarce dollars to spur economic development. It focuses on using better land development and investment decisions to help local governments improve their fiscal sustainability.
CWCOG was selected as one of 56 recipients, nationwide, to receive “Building Blocks” technical assistance, which is offered to help communities solve thorny problems. We selected “Economic Vitality and Fiscal Health” for our workshop topic because of long-standing issues of economic vitality within our region and the opportunity to use workshop results for ongoing economic development efforts.
The assistance is funded through the Office of Sustainable Communities at EPA, and contracted with consultants from around the country. Bay Area Economics of Sacramento was selected for presenting this workshop to the Cowlitz-Lewis region. The workshop will be followed by a brief report outlining next steps to implement the ideas generated at the workshop.
